The Tour of Britain

Welcome to stage 5 of the 2008 Tour of Britain which will see the riders racing from Kingston Upon Hull to Dalby Forest. Set against a stunning backdrop, riders will experience a true Yorkshire welcome as they soak up the ambience of the great outdoors whilst facing a challenging and rewarding ride.

Kingston Upon Hull

Located on the banks of the River Humber, this magnificent waterfront city boasts a relaxing atmosphere along with a vibrant mix of culture, shopping and nightlife.

Situated in the heart of the historic Old Town is the city's Museum Quarter which houses 235 million years of history. Highlights include the interactive Streetlife Museum, the Hull and East Riding Museum, Wilberforce House, and the Arctic Corsair.

Shopaholics can shop 'til they drop in Hull's wide range of well-know and independent fashion shops and after nightfall, Hull is alive with a buzz and energy of its own. Soak up the atmosphere of the Old Town in one of the many traditional hostelries or experience Hull’s very own café bar culture; alternatively take in a show at Hull Truck or Hull New Theatre.

Dalby Forest

Dalby is located in the heart of the North York Moors National Park offering 8,000 acres of exhilarating forest to explore and enjoy.

The nine mile drive gives access to play areas, barbecue and picnic areas, waymarked trails (up to 4.5 miles) including Habitat Trail and cycle routes for all abilities. The eco Visitor Centre in Low Dalby village is just one mile from the Thornton Dale entrance with friendly, helpful staff on hand to provide information and advice. Refreshments and cycle hire available, along with toilets and wheelchair access.

There’s always a quiet corner to watch for wildlife and take in fresh air and scenery. However, for the more extreme enthusiasts, Go Ape! provides the ultimate in exhilaration. Dalby Forest is the Chief Gorilla’s personal favourite. The hilltop to hilltop zipwires and beautiful valley location make this the wildest adventure playground in the land.
