Welcome to Stage Four of The Tour of Britain, which will see the peloton racing from Worcester across the West Midlands to finish in the city of Stoke-on-Trent.
With constantly rolling roads and taking in the stunning scenery of Ironbridge and the Severn Valley, Stage Four will provide an excellent opportunity for riders to gain time on their rivals as they look to steal the yellow jersey.
Situated in the heart of one of the most beautiful parts of England, Worcester is surrounded by glorious landscapes and charming towns and villages.
The city and county have a wealth of fascinating, beautiful and exciting places to visit, from the majestic cathedral on the banks of the Severn to Royal Worcester Porcelain’s Museum and Visitor Centre and the remarkable medieval interiors of the city centre’s Greyfriars. Just beyond the city are more delightful places, from the glorious hills and natural springs at Malvern to Elgar’s Birthplace Museum, the magnificent landscapes at Croome Park and the romantic ruin of Witley Court.
The compact city centre is ideal for strolling, sightseeing and shopping. There is a great mixture of ancient buildings, modern shopping, street cafés and riverside walks guaranteed to reward you with a relaxing and entertaining visit.
Once again The Tour of Britain visits Worcester for a stage start, which as in 2007 will begin at the city’s racecourse.
Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire is a unique Great British City made up of six separate towns: Tunstall, Burslem, Hanley (the City Centre), Stoke, Fenton and Longton - affectionately known as 'The Potteries'.
Known for the rich heritage of time-honoured skills in the pottery industry, there are many ceramics factory shops, visitor centres and exhibitions to visit. The city now boasts internationally acclaimed visitor centres at Spode and Wedgwood, both offering demonstrations, factory tours, stunning museums and exciting shopping opportunities.
With many parks & gardens, historic houses, active nightlife and many attractions, Stoke-on-Trent has something to entertain all the family.
The Tour of Britain finishes at the heart of the city centre in Hanley, in front of the Town Hall.
