Rapha - Condor - Sharp
The men in black return and will arguably boast the strongest line-up out of any of the British domestic teams, although their six man roster is likely to have a fair hint of Australian about it!
A trio of Aussies are in contention for The Tour, including top sprinter Dean Windsor, former Australian Champion Darren Lapthorne and new signing for 2010 Zak Dempster. The Victorian has four top ten stage placings to his names from the ’07 and ’08 races, so could be Rapha – Condor – Sharp’s best bet of taking their first ever Tour of Britain stage win.
Multiple Olympic medallist Chris Newton will be looking to make history by starting his seventh Tour of Britain, while Kristian House will be hoping to build upon his tenth placed finish last year. House will be back in black after relinquishing his British Champions jersey in June, but may now see this as the perfect opportunity to replace it with a Tour of Britain leader’s jersey.
Another Briton to watch out for is Tom Southam, who has twice before finished in the top twenty. Southam’s season has been disrupted by injury, but the Cornishman has won in Colchester before, taking the 2008 Tour Series round held there, so can lightning strike twice on Stage Seven?
In 2010 Rapha – Condor – Sharp can boast stage wins in Ireland, Taiwan and Japan, plus numerous Halfords Tour Series and Premier Calendar wins in Britain, making them one of the best chances of British success in The Tour.
