Route

Having looped through King’s Lynn, the riders leave the town, heading towards Castle Rising and on to the Sandringham Estate. Sandringham has been home to four generations of monarchs and is the country retreat for Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family.

Heading through part of the 8000-hectare estate, the first Sprint of the day will take place close to the visitor’s centre, giving riders an early chance to gain points in the Sprints Classification and bonus seconds towards the Overall Classification.

The race then heads towards the west Norfolk seaside town of Hunstanton – a well known destination for watersports, before following the coastal road to Brancaster, with the first King of the Mountains climb taking place as the road nears Burnham Deepdale.

Carrying on through the picturesque village of Burnham Market, towards Holkham, the race then heads through the stunning grounds of one of Norfolk’s most renowned country houses – Holkham Hall.

Leaving Holkham, the riders head towards the north Norfolk coastal town of Wells next the Sea, with the second Sprint taking place on the picture-postcard quayside in the town, a great location to watch the action from.

The Tour then follows the coastal road through Blakeney to the seaside resort of Sheringham and on to West Runton, where it turns inland towards Aylmerton – which is where the second King of the Mountain climb, of Beacon Hill, takes place.

The route then heads through the market town of Holt, passing the beautiful National Trust property of Blickling Hall, and heading on to the market-town of Aylsham.

Heading towards the city of Norwich, the riders pass various villages, before heading into the suburbs of Norwich. Following the ring road, the third Sprint takes place up Grapes Hill in the city.

Onwards into the city centre, the riders pass Norwich’s most iconic modern landmark – The Forum. Weaving through Norwich, where huge crowds are sure to great The Tour, and down Prince of Wales Road, the third King of the Mountain climb takes place over Mousehold Heath.

Heading out of Norwich and having already ridden through fenland, urban and coastal destinations, the riders pass through yet another landscape in the form of the world-famous Norfolk Broads.

Passing the waterways in Wroxham, Hoveton and Potter Heigham, the race heads towards the east coast of Norfolk and through Caister-on-Sea, before heading for the finish line in Great Yarmouth.

From Caister the stage passes by Great Yarmouth race course before turning left to head for the North Drive and a long, straight run in that should see the peloton at full speed as it either readies itself for a bunch sprint or valiantly tries to bring back any riders who have escaped its clutches.

Just after passing the pier the race will swing right into the centre of Great Yarmouth and onto South Quay, running alongside the River Yare as far as Main Cross Road, which will bring The Tour back out onto the seafront for the final, exciting, few hundred metres to the finish line.
